This week, thousands of people from across the country are descending on Washington, D.C. to take a stand against war, torture, Wall Street greed and injustice—to “Stop the Machine” at a mass action beginning this Thursday, Oct. 6, and continuing throughout the weekend.
People are rising up all over the country from Wall Street to Los Angeles and now in a dramatic action just blocks from Congress and the White House. These veterans, who have suffered so much, are also demanding that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld be indicted for war crimes.
The action coincides with the 10th anniversary of the war on Afghanistan. This criminal war, launched by Bush and Co., has led to the death of tens of thousands of civilians and thousands of U.S. troops, and was used to justify torture on a mass scale.
Now, young Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, active-duty troops, and military families who have lost loved ones to war and inadequate military health care are coming to D.C. to join this movement and bring the issue of indictment to the forefront of the struggle.
Getting them to Washington is a huge expense and we want to make sure they can make it. Veterans and active-duty troops have been helping to lead this struggle and we need to make sure their voices are heard. Please donate now to bring young Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans, active-duty troops and military families to Washington, D.C., to participate in this action.
Iraq war veteran, co-founder of March Forward! and IndictBushNow activist, Mike Prysner, is one of those traveling to D.C.:
I’m going to Washington, D.C., to take a stand for justice; to stop U.S. wars and to end torture. We, who fought in Iraq, find it intolerable that George W. Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld, can go around the country making millions on speeches and book deals while thousands of young veterans live life on one leg or no leg, missing arms and eyes, brain trauma and a lifetime of trauma-induced emotional and psychological problems from engaging in a criminal war of aggression.
We are fully committed to spreading the message of the IndictBushNow movement and we will bring this message to D.C. when we join with other veterans and people of conscience at the ‘Stop the Machine’ action. Please help us get to D.C.
The voices of anti-war veterans are essential. With your help, many young veterans were able to participate in the “Stop the Machine” action beginning on Oct. 6. Please show your support for the Indictment movement by helping pay for young veterans, active-duty troops and military families to travel to D.C.
You can make the difference.
