The tide is turning.
In response to Iraq war veteran Ryan Endicott’s appeal, thousands of letters were sent to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, urging him to prosecute George W. Bush for torture. People from all 50 states have signed the letter and forwarded it to friends.
There is increasing pressure on Attorney General Holder to indict Bush and former top administration officials complicit in the torture of detainees, including former White House Counsel and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, John Yoo, Jay Bybee, David Addington and others.
Congratulations to everyone who is making this movement expand at this crucial time.
We are also getting support from people around the world. Not only are former Bush administration officials under investigation in Italy, investigations also have been launched in Australia, Canada, Lithuania, Poland and the United Kingdom. This is a global movement and we, the American people, must do our part.
The grassroots momentum that this movement for indictment is creating is now spilling into U.S. courts. Just last week, the New York State Supreme Court announced that it will hear a case against Dr. John Leso, a psychologist accused of participating in torture during interrogation of detainees in Guantánamo.
The case was brought on behalf of Dr. Steven Reisner, who is at the center of a growing group of medical professionals campaigning against the participation of psychologists in the U.S. government’s torture programs. These programs were all green lighted by Bush and company. Other similar cases have been filed, and more will surface if we keep pushing for justice.
Our movement against torture and for accountability is helping to shine a bright light on the many crimes of Bush and his cronies in the courts and in the streets. On March 19, and then on April 9 and 10, thousands of people marched against U.S. wars in cities across the country. IndictBushNow volunteers were there gathering signatures and support with the message that no one is above the law.
The American people have a special responsibility to expose the Bush administration. Stand with us and help make indictment a reality.
